Scholarly literature search across nine sources - OpenAlex, Crossref, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, Europe PMC, PubMed and DOAJ - with citation-graph traversal, retraction screening via Crossref Crossmark, legal full-text lookup via Unpaywall, and saved searches that return only what is new since you last looked. Every answer names its sources and flags preprints as not peer reviewed.

search_openalex	Search OpenAlex works with citation counts, DOI, venue, open-access links, and optional peer-reviewed/source filtering.
search_crossref	Search Crossref DOI metadata for journal/conference papers and books.
search_arxiv	Search arXiv preprints; useful for recent work and sparse peer-reviewed coverage.
search_semantic_scholar	Search Semantic Scholar for papers with citation counts and open-access PDF links. May be rate-limited without an API key.
literature_search	Combined search: OpenAlex first, Crossref second, arXiv for recent preprints, Semantic Scholar if available.
paper_lookup	Lookup a paper by DOI, OpenAlex ID, arXiv ID, or title-ish query using OpenAlex/Crossref/arXiv.
search_europepmc	Search Europe PMC: 43M+ life-science records including PubMed, PMC full texts and preprint servers. Fills the biomedical gap that OpenAlex/Crossref/arXiv cover only thinly.
search_pubmed	Search PubMed via NCBI E-utilities and return curated biomedical citation summaries.
citation_graph	Walk the citation graph around a paper: what it cites, and what cites it. Accepts a DOI, an OpenAlex work id, or a bare OpenAlex key like W2741809807.
watch_query	Track a research question over time: return only papers not seen on previous calls. Call once with no cursor to establish a baseline, then pass the returned cursor back on later calls to get only what is new. Nothing is stored server-side; the cursor carries the state.
integrity_check	Check whether a paper has been retracted, corrected, or had concerns raised. Reads publisher-asserted Crossmark updates from Crossref. Accepts a DOI, a doi.org URL, or an OpenAlex id. Use this before citing anything.
check_retractions	Screen a list of DOIs or OpenAlex ids for retractions in one call. Intended for vetting a whole reading list or search result set at once.
find_full_text	Find a legal free copy of a paper via Unpaywall, with licence and version.
search_doaj	Search articles from vetted open-access journals in the DOAJ.
list_sources	List every literature source this server searches, with coverage and caveats.
